1. The Connecticut Lawn-Care Foundation

2. Soil Testing and Fertilization

5. Yellow Nutsedge: Why It Is So Hard to Get Rid Of

Mesotrione program for creeping bentgrass

The EPA Tenacity label specifically provides a bentgrass-control program using mesotrione at 5 fl oz per acre in at least 30 gallons of water per acre, at 2–3 week intervals for up to three applications, with a nonionic surfactant. The label states that late-summer/early-fall treatment may be more effective than spring or early-summer treatment.

Label warning: This is a label-specific example for Tenacity/mesotrione. Do not transfer this rate to a different mesotrione product without reading that product's current label. Connecticut registration must also be verified.
  1. Identify the desirable turf. Confirm that the surrounding turf is listed as tolerant.
  2. Map the bentgrass. Mark patches so you can target them.
  3. Measure the treatment area.
  4. Calibrate the sprayer.
